Roparun
is the longest relay run in the world.
It's goal is to raise as much money as possible for the
Roprarun Foundation which strives to enable people with
cancer to i.e. go on a week's holiday with their family
or provide extra facilities in hospitals or day-centres
where people with the same affliction can meet each other.
For
healthy people this is something ordinary, but for people
with cancer, this can be of the utmost importance.
The
foundation "Roparun" (which stands for Rotterdam-Paris
Run) has a motto which reads "Try to add expection
to life, where life expectation cannot be added".
In
1992 Roparun was born.
The course was approximately 530 km long and started on
the Coolsingel in Rotterdam and finished in Parc La Courneuve
in Paris.
The route has been changed since 2004 and now runs from
Paris to Rotterdam.

In
2009 there will be more than 250 teams at the starting
line.
The proceeds from all these teams will go to the Roprun
Foundation and they will be used to better the lives of
people with cancer.
Since 1992 Roparum has raised in ecess of 25 million Euro's.
